Set Top
Boxes and their ability to passively collect tuning data has been an exciting
development for the world of TV measurement for the past decade. The IAB
defines a set top box simply as an electronic device that connects to a TV
providing connectivity to the Internet, game systems, or cable systems. But its
capability to not only feed out content but also receive back usage data
expands its value to the media industry as a measurement device.
